Madeira is a hiker’s paradise and offers unlimited opportunities to experience nature. Easy walks are possible for all guests, even for small children.
The more challenging walks require experience, sure-footedness and a head for heights. Easy trails often follow the famous levadas (man-made, mostly open watercourses with gentle slopes). The more challenging trails lead through primeval forests or over the highest mountains on the island (up to almost 2000 m above sea level). Good footwear and rain gear are always recommended, even for easy hikes.

Round trips are possible, but often the starting point and destination are far apart, in which case a second vehicle is required. We can help in these cases. A guide can be provided if possible. We can also lend equipment and give valuable advice on the hikes.
