Activities

At Quinta do Munot we don’t offer traditional hotel-style entertainment — instead, we invite you to experience the breathtaking nature of Madeira in an authentic and individual way. We are happy to share local tips and help organize unforgettable outdoor experiences.

Let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll gladly help organize or guide you in the right direction. Our goal is to ensure you have a memorable and relaxing stay.

Hiking and Nordic Walking

Madeira is a hiker’s paradise and offers unlimited opportunities to experience nature.

MORE INFO

Trail Running

For those who prefer running to walking, there are many ways to explore the island. There are countless routes suitable for both walkers and runners.

Rock Climbing

If hiking is not challenging enough for you, you can climb in the mountains and on countless steep walls.

Cycling and Mountain Biking

Maderira offers countless routes that can be explored by bike. There are special routes just for bikers. One of these trails ends very close to the center of Raposeira.

Swimming, Snorkeling & Diving

We do not offer our own swimming pool because there is something much better within sight – the Atlantic Ocean. The nearest sandy beach is in Calheta, less than a quarter of an hour from Quinta do Munot. We are happy to provide information on how to enjoy the water and the underwater world.

Canyoning and Coastering

Guests looking for special adventures will be thrilled with these guided tours. We do not offer these activities, but we can take you to the locations and pick you up if a rental car is not available.

Surfing

A hotspot for surfers is located on the ocean just below Quinta do Munot near Paul do Mar. The view of the sea just over 500 meters below on the cliffs is breathtaking and the surf is easy to hear. You can reach the sea in about 15 minutes by car.

Boat Trips / Whale and Dolphin Watching

Swarms of dolphins and many whales pass by Madeira in the Atlantic Ocean. A trip to the port of Calheta takes only 15 minutes. From there, boats will take you along the coast. With a bit of luck and a good pair of binoculars, you can also see these marine mammals from our terrace.

Paragliding

There are several paragliding launch sites on the south coast. It is possible to book tandem flights or fly yourself. We are happy to provide tips and shuttle service if required.

Golf

A new 18-hole golf course is scheduled to open in 2026 in a fantastic location only 15 minutes away by car (Clube de Golfe Ponta do Pargo). We can provide a shuttle service if needed.

Hiking and Nordic Walking

Madeira is a hiker’s paradise and offers unlimited opportunities to experience nature. Easy walks are possible for all guests, even for small children. The more challenging walks require experience, sure-footedness and a head for heights. Easy trails often follow the famous levadas (man-made, mostly open watercourses with gentle slopes). The more challenging trails lead through primeval forests or over the highest mountains on the island (up to almost 2000 m above sea level). Good footwear and rain gear are always recommended, even for easy hikes.

Round trips are possible, but often the starting point and destination are far apart, in which case a second vehicle is required. We can help in these cases. A guide can be provided if possible. We can also lend equipment and give valuable advice on the hikes.
